Under the multi-year marketing deal, users of Aspire can access AOL software through the click of an AOL icon that will be highlighted in the Internet services folder of the Aspire Computer Explore (ACE) desktop. Additionally, the companies said they will collaborate on joint promotional features.
Earlier this year AOL unveiled similar relationships with other PC manufacturers. The company announced in June that its Interactive Service software will be featured via a desktop icon on IBM consumer Aptiva and ThinkPad computers.
Packard Bell also agreed this summer to display AOL as a preferred Internet service on its Packard Bell and NEC Ready-branded personal computers.
"With consumers increasingly purchasing computers for the purpose of going online and investigating all that cyberspace has to offer, this agreement will offer Acer customers an even more convenient way to sign up for AOL," said Jan Brandt, President of Marketing for America Online Inc.
