Follett founded the Compact Group, an international IT software and services developer purchased by software firm Baan in 1998. Subsequently, he was European vice president for the automotive division of Baan.
Prior to the Compact Group, he worked for Olivetti, first in European marketing and then as a regional manager. He holds a bachelor's degree in economics and a
postgraduate diploma in business management from the University of Columbia.
