Cisco, HP Dial For ISP Dollars
January 9, 2009 nnyq.com editDubbed "The HP and Cisco Internet Usage Program," the initiative is based upon the Internet usage platform, announced in April that uses HP's smart Internet usage and Cisco NetFlow technology.
The companies say the program will allow ISPs to incorporate information on subscriber usage into marketing and performance monitoring efforts. The platform will also allow service providers to implement usage-based billing.
"With increased competition, service providers struggle to differentiate themselves. This innovative technology enables service providers to maximize profits, increase service levels to customers--ultimately reducing customer turnover," said Bernard Guidon, senior vice president and general manager of HP's telecom business unit.
Cisco and HP have also set up a program to assist ISPs in choosing
applications and integration partners.
