October 24, 2008 nnyq.com editThe POP will allow MindSpring subscribers throughout the metro Chicago area to access the Internet without having paying a local toll charge. Subscribers can connect at speeds up to 56 kilobits per second through the network, developed by 3Com.
"MindSpring works very hard to exceed our customers' expectations, and this SuperPOP demonstrates that commitment," said Mike McQuary, Mindspring's president and chief operating officer.
"Our network services group has obtained a set of phone numbers that will allow almost everyone in the Chicagoland area to access MindSpring's service without worrying about toll charges. We think this is a service very few of our competitors offer in the Chicago market.
