Taking place in Earls Court Two in London, the International Jewellery London 2008 show will start on the 31st of August 2008 and continue until 3rd September 2008. Organized by Reed Exhibitions, the trade show targets the business, services, retail, travel and publishing sectors.

The event is said to be the UK's only show that is dedicated exclusively to the trade of jewellery. This year, Consortia-an association of jewellers from the UK and Eire-will be conducting their autumn buying group meeting at the event. Twenty-one Consortia suppliers will be participating in the show as exhibitors. These include Ag Silver, Blumer, Breuning, Carrs Silver, Curteis, Ortak Jewellery, Potters (London), Ruppenthal (UK), Samuel Jones (Pearls), Stephen Tyler, Stubbs & Co (UK), T A Durant and Tivon Fine Jewellery.

A number of seminars will be showcased at the event for visitors to gain a better understanding of the industry, keeping them abreast of new developments. These seminars are supported by The Jeweller magazine. Expert advice and tips will be provided to jewellers and retailers at the Jewellery Trends and Retail Business programmes. All seminars are free to attend, but seats tend to get filled quickly. No prior booking is available as spaces are provided on a first come first served basis.

The IJL Great Debate is one seminar not to be missed as the panellists will include representatives from all sections of the jewellery industry, including mining and retail sectors. This year, the panel will discuss whether the global jewellery industry will 'deliver an ethically responsible supply chain in line with consumer demand'.

Another interesting feature of the International Jewellery London 2008 event will be offered by GIA London in the form of a series of gemmology workshops that last approximately three hours each. These workshops are designed to help gem and jewellery professionals to brush up on their skills.

Up and coming designers will also have a point of interest in the show with the IJL Bright Young Gems programme. A panel of editors from major fashion publications elect the designers whose work is showcased at the event, where it will be seen by other designers, retailers, manufacturers and individuals with buying power. This programme aims to give new designers a stepping stone to enter the commercial industry.

This really is a great exhibition for everyone involved with the jewellery business and wonderful for networking within the industry and getting to know the main players and to build leads.
