Learn All About the Female Terminator
October 27, 2008 nnyq.com editShe was born on October 3, 1973 to a father who was a Yorkshire police cadet in Bermuda where he was sent shortly before she was born. She lived on the ocean until her fifth birthday where she was raised in Bermuda. She moved back to England and lived the remainder of her childhood in Yorkshire, moving to London as a teenager. Lena Headey was one of very few actresses who did not attend a drama school before she became an actress. When she was seventeen years old, she performed in one off show in the company of six school friends and she was lucky enough to catch the attention of a casting agent. The casting agent took a photograph of her and then he asked her to audition.
After years of auditioning, she was cast in the film Waterland in 1992, which was her very first big screen debut. She had an unusual amount of natural acting talent which she was able to hone while filming. She also took an interest in archery, horse training, and boxing. She took classes in boxing in clubs in South London and was taught how to spar by a former boxer. Headey has been acting for about fifteen years and has had the pleasure of playing a very wide variety of roles. She has played characters from Amazon type warriors to very action minded women in movies like The Cave and The Brothers Grimm. She even played a lesbian lover in Imagine Me & You.
Lena Headey has become a very popular actress in the United States, so it is not hard to see why she was cast as the female terminator in The Sarah Connor Chronicles television series. She fits the role of a female terminator so well that she has actually been able to sculpt the character into her own. Pretty soon we will be thinking about Lena Headey when we think of Sarah Connor and not Linda Hamilton.
