Road Runner Speeds Into Pennsylvania
October 31, 2008 nnyq.com editUnder terms of the agreement, Road Runner service will be available to an initial 41,730 homes in and around Johnstown, Penn. By the end of the third quarter, the service is expected to expand to another 50,570 homes in the Altoona, Penn. area.
The service will be priced at $39.95 per month for cable subscribers, and $49.95 per month for non-cable subscribers.
Jack Pottle, president of Fanch Communications, said that this is Road Runner's first partner in Pennsylvania.
"We expect Johnstown to serve as a blueprint for subsequent launches in other communities," he said.
In related news, June 1999 is the anticipated launch date for Road Runner's service in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Time Warner's Cable Los Angeles will host the service on its cable network.
Road Runner is jointly owned by Time Warner, MediaOne Group, Microsoft Corp., Compaq Computer Corp. and Advance/Newhouse. It recently surpassed 180,000 subscribers.
