U S WEST Communications announced it
partnered with Cisco Systems and Intermedia Communications Inc. to
develop its next-generation data communications network.
U S WEST will install Cisco networking equipment in over 80 points of
presence (POPs) across the U.S. through the end of 1998. Along with this
deployment of Cisco switches and dial access systems, the companies will
work together to develop other advanced networking services targeting the
business market, such as Internet Protocol (IP) telephony, frame relay, and
Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM).
