Verizon Wireless Web content will feature Go2 Systems Inc. location-based directory as part of a strategic deal struck Monday.

Go2 will provide Verizon Communications wireless Web customers with its location and mobile information services.

Marc Lefar, Verizon Wireless vice president, said the agreement represents its commitment to providing a range of information services for its mobile Web users.

"Go2 adds real value to the service, driving users to rely on their mobile phone as an indispensable source of information that follows them anywhere," Lefar said. "Mobile Web users have the ability to completely customize their wireless Internet experience based on their personal interests and needs."

Lee Hancock, Go2 founder and president, said the distribution deal further extends the reach of its localized wireless search service.

"Our relationship with Verizon Wireless will expand our distribution by providing our valuable services to Verizon Wireless customers," Hancock said. "Go2 offers mobile solutions for Verizon's wireless users who can now obtain location-centric information, such as directions, click-through calling and updated daily intelligence."

Go2 Web sites provide location-based information for more than 12 million brick and mortar businesses across the U.S. It provides information relevant to the mobile customer, including turn-by-turn directions, local events and other directory services.

Go2 uses proximity-ranked technology addressing its locator system to provide responses to mobile users' inquiries.

In tandem with the Go2 alliance, Verizon Wireless also launched its nationwide mobile Web service, which runs on Verizon Wireless' nationwide code-division multiple access networks. CDMA technology allows mobile phone users the opportunity to leverage available bandwidth over wireless networks.
